Early Stage Breast Cancer

He was born in Istanbul in 1961. He completed his secondary education at Galatasaray High School. He graduated from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1986. He completed his specialty training at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital and became a General Surgery Specialist in 1991, then worked there as a general surgery specialist.

In 2011, he became an Associate Professor in General Surgery, and in 2012, he became a Training Specialist.

In 2014, he was awarded the Surgical Oncology Subspecialty Certificate by the Ministry of Health.

In 2017, Professor Dr. Gürkan Yetkin, who received the title of Professor from the University of Health Sciences, continued working at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital as a Training Specialist in the field of General Surgery until the end of 2021. As of 2022, he has been seeing patients at his own clinic in Istanbul Fulya and performing surgeries in various hospitals.

His medical interests include:

• Breast cancer and oncoplastic surgery (breast-conserving surgery)
• Thyroid diseases
• Thyroid cancer surgery
• Endoscopic laparoscopic surgery
• Goiter diseases
• Breast diseases

He has authored many national and international studies, including 40 international articles.

He is a member of the following associations:

• Endocrine Surgery Association
• Turkish Colon and Rectal Surgery Association
• National Endoscopy and Laparoscopic Surgery Association
